I'm personally being a fan of Emotiva's active speakers for sometime.
They are for excellent imaging for the desktop at a reasonable price.
The new passive B1s of a very similar design of performance could save you a hundred bucks.
The Emotiva Airmotiv B1 will probably divide people with its angular looks.
But at least you can add the magnetic grill if you want.
The B1 has a 5.2inch woven glass woofer, with a folded ribbon [INAUDIBLE].
and its this [INAUDIBLE] which gives the B1 its airy detailed sound .this speaker is capable of very solid imaging which I don't think I have heard in a $300 speaker set before.
Movie dialogue is also crisp and clear Sure, there's not that much bass there.
And popping them post to the walls is recommended.
But, what is there is pretty punchy.
If you listen to a castro, folk or jazz, the beat one is pretty much your speaker.
If you want them to rock a bit harder though, you can consider adding a subwoofer, as it will also help with home theater.

But these speakers aren't the one I'd buy if I was looking to get Imotiva.
The larger B-1's are a better deal as they offer more base, and about five times more physical speaker.
However, if you like the styling, and want something that can extract more detail from your recordings than other budget speakers, the B-1 is the one you should get.
