Toshiba Qosmio F755-3D290 Glasses-Free 3D laptop
I'm Dan Ackerman and we are here taking a look at the Toshiba Qosmio F755.
Now, we first saw this in prototype format back at CES 2011 and what have impressed us was the fact that Toshiba could take a 15.6-inch laptop screen and do a no-glasses 3D effect on it, kind of like what you see with the Nintendo 3DS but just a lot larger.
It's really surprising actually that they managed to get the final product out on the store shelves and under a year
from then.
It's called the F755.
You can go out and buy it right now and it is the only big screen, no-eyeglass 3D laptop out there.
The way it works is it uses the webcam that's built in to the system with some special software in order to actually look at your face and track your eye movements and then adjust the stereoscopic image on the fly so you always get the best 3D effect.
Now, in practical use, it's still not as crisp and not as good as wearing active shutter 3D glasses and watching a 3D TV or going to a big movie
theater and-- and watching 3D there with the glasses.
But, for no-eyeglass 3D, it's certainly one of the best bigger screens versions of that that we've seen.
There's a little bit of screen-door effect at times and you don't want to move your head around too much even though it's adjusting the image on the fly.
You get some of that sort of lenticular effect.
You see the image shifting there.
Right now, it works only with 3D Blu-rays and any 3D videos you happened to be able to download and play through Toshiba's custom media player in order to do things like video games or streaming
3D web video in 3D.
You've got a [unk] for some updates, Toshiba and NVIDIA claimed to working on those.
We don't quite know when we're gonna see that.
But, if you're gonna watch 3D Blu-rays by yourself and not move your head around too much, it's actually a pretty interesting and a pretty cool experience overall.
Other than that, it's fairly standard Qosmio 15-inch laptops that make very good multimedia systems.
You're gonna get an Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Card.
You're gonna pay a little bit more than the standard street price for that, about $1,699
but that's because it includes all these extra 3D stuff.
I'm Dan Ackerman and that is the Toshiba Qosmio F755.
