[ Music ] ^M00:00:03 >> Hi. I'm David Katzmaier from CNET, and this is the Toshiba 47ZV950U. It's a 47-inch flat panel TV. There's also a 42 and a 55-inch version in the series, and this review will apply to all three sizes. This is Toshiba's 240-hertz TV. That technology allows it to reduce blurring in motion and have a couple of other effects. We'll get into that in a little bit. But first off, you can see this TV eschews the completely glossy black styling seen on a lot of the HD TVs today. It goes for a little bit of silver around the edge here. We really like the look. The silver kind of fades into the black. And it does provide a really nice contrast. There's also a swivel stand included with this TV. Features on this set are pretty extensive. We mentioned that 240-hertz. There's also a lot of picture adjustments on the TV. You can adjust color temperature. You can even set one of the color filters to turn on or turn off red, green, and blue separately. That allows you to really tweak color. So all-in-all, a very good selection of picture adjustments. Back panel on this TV has plenty of inputs. There's three HDMI, one PC, and two component video inputs, as well as a HDMI input on the side panel. One note, though, the PC input is not compatible with the highest resolution. It only goes up to 1280 by 1024, so that's kind of a knock. In terms of picture quality, Toshiba did not deliver the deepest blacks we've seen. Its black levels are brighter than a lot of the LCDs out there. That did make dark areas look relatively washed out. On the flip side, it does have really accurate color, especially with all those adjustments we mentioned. You can tweak those things to achieve excellent color accuracy, which does lend a lot of pop and saturation despite the lack of black level performance. In terms of the 240-hertz, we did notice some reduction in blurring with test patterns, but as usual, it's really hard to see the difference with actual program material. The dejutter processing also wasn't quite as good as we've seen on a lot of the other TVs out there, but in general, it is a relatively good performer, especially for the price. It's one of the least expensive 240-hertz TVs on the market. It's also worth noting that while we've been talking about this as 240-hertz display, Toshiba's careful to say that it's actually just a 240-hertz effect. The TV doesn't use the same technology as other 240-hertz displays, although in the end, the effects are very similar. That's a quick look at the Toshiba 47ZV650U, and I'm David Katzmaier. ^M00:02:13 [ Music ]
