The new SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is fast and flawed
[MUSIC]
Hi guys, this is the new iXpand flash drive from SANDISK.
Now new, because this one right here, the old drive of the same name and capacity that came out in 2014.
But first, this is basically a thumb drive.
You can connect it to a computer using this end.
Just like that, and copy content.
Music, movies, photos, you have it.
And then you can use this end right here.
So a lightning connector to connect it to an iPad or iPhone.
Now we can play back the content and backup your phone's photo and contact on this drive.
Although in my testing that work very well.
No complaint there.
now compared to the old drive, the new one here is both better, and worse.
Better because, well it's a lot smaller, so it can clip to an eye device most easier without being a lot in the way.
Your also a lot faster, supporting your speed 3.0.
And in my testing, averaged at some 15 megabyte per second for writing and almost 90 megabyte per second for reading.
That is really fast.
Okay, it was because it is a new mobile app called I [UNKNOWN] dry.
This app does not support a lot of popular sound encodings such as DTS or AC3.
And that means a lot of your favorite movies will play back just fine, just without the sound.
Also the drive here does not have a [UNKNOWN] So it will draw joules from your idevice, so expect shorter battery life.
There's one more thing about the iXpand.
Both the new one and the old one that I don't like.
And that's because they only work with the mobile apps when formatted in FAT32.
And [UNKNOWN] two has a limit size of only four gigabytes.
And guess what?
Most movies in epic hi-def requires more than four gigabytes storage space.
And you can not carry them on this thing right here.
And I only watch stuff in epic hi-def.
Which is why I never [INAUDIBLE] Okay.
Anyhow, this one here can make a very good accessory for you iPad or your iPhone.
Just make sure you're aware of its shortcomings before spending your hard earned cash on it.
Now if you ask me how much I like this one.
Well here's my answer.
I have only one of the new one here, but two of the old one.
So go figure.
In the meantime there is one thing you already know but you wanna hear anyway.
Yeah.
I'm Dan Hol.
No doubt.
