Amazon Books has come to New York.
We were invited to check out the company's newest book store in the shop at Columbus Circle near Central Park just ahead of the store opening this thursday.
As you can see, it is a lot like plenty of other book stores with dark wood floors, aisles of book shelves and light jazz music.
But there are also a lot of elements that make the location very amazonee For example, the e-commerce giant relies on its mountains of shopper data to fill its stores with books that get high ratings on Amazon.com and Good Reads.
There are also different data-driven sections like Page Turners.
Those are books Kindle readers finish in three days or less.
Also there aren't price tags.
Instead people can use the Amazon shopping pp on their phones to scan a bar code, then you get the price on a book and ead more about it online.
These new locations do come with a big dash of irony.
A bunch of traditional retailers have had to close stores or even go into bankruptcy due to competition from you guessed it, Amazon.
So it's a little strange that Amazon is now opening new stores at the same time.
But can Amazon do a better job with retail stores than Barnes and Noble or Macy's?
