Sengled's color-changing Bluetooth speaker bulb isn't worth it

[MUSIC] I genuinely want every product that I test to do well, but the color-changing Sengled Solo Color Plus LED did not. Currently available on Amazon for 50 bucks, the bulb promises to sync with your smartphone over Bluetooth to let you change between color settings, and it even doubles as a small-sized Bluetooth speaker. The problem is there's just way too much not to like about it. For starters the app is basic and clumsy with futz color controls and stuttering brightness slider that doesn't dim the lights smoothly. And hardly any features aside from a rhythm mode that syncs up colorful lighting changes to the beat of whatever you are listening to. You can't schedule automated lighting changes. You can't sync with Alexa or Siri or the Google Assistant and you can't connect it with GIF or any other smart phone platform It connects with your phone but it won't connect with anything else. On top of that the performance was pretty weak for a smart bulb that costs 50 bucks at it's brightest setting the default soft white setting it would put out about 556 lumins which is barely brighter than an accent light and roughly half as bright as you'll get with the light fix LED As for the colors they're even worse. None of them go any brighter than 30 lumens which is night light territory. A good color changing bulb at this price point should really be able to get most of the colors up above 100 lumens at the very least. Sengled doesn't even come close. As for the built in speaker it works like any other bluetooth speaker and it sounds fine, you know, for a light bulb. As a result, I could see the solo color plus making sense of a bedside lamp where you don't need a ton of light and wouldn't mind playing a podcast before drifting off. But keep in mind, you can find dumb LEDs with built in bluetooth speakers of their own at your local hardware store for as little as 15 bucks. So yeah, this is not a smart home standout by any stretch For most everyone I say keep shopping. [BLANK_AUDIO]
