Hey guys, Eric Franklin here, and today we're taking a first look at the Samsung SyncMaster S23A350H.
The 350 looks like a typical Samsung monitor without really much flair to its design.
No glass necks or transparent footstands here, though, just plain old function.
The monitor tilts back 10 degrees and has a fairly wide footstand, which includes a hook for cable routing.
Connections include
HDMI and VGA, but sadly no DVI, which I know.
I've gone on about this before, but this is still 2011 and DisplayPort hasn't yet taken over.
So, I still feel monitors should still support DVI or at least provide an adaptor if they don't.
But you would see it uses Samsung's stock monitor interface with the usual useful and robust options, but nothing really exciting.
Performance is probably the best thing about the monitor
though.
Movies compared to its system monitor, the S23A550H, the 350 displayed poppier color and deeper blacks.
In games, we saw noticeably less green on the screen than what we've experienced on the 550, but you could still see green on a 350 during games.
After the disappointment of the 550, it's great to see that the 350 performs as well as it did in our test.
With its sound and sensible design, great performance and useful and
robust OSD, the 350 is well worth, is valuable asking price.
