Culture
[MUSIC] Greetings, citizens of the internet. Welcome to Tomorrow Daily, the best speed talk show in the known universe. I'm Ashley Esqueda. And I'm Jeff Cannata and every Monday through Wednesday, we're gonna hit you with some rapid fire headlines It's kind of like your homework. And then every Thursday we are going to pick our favorite headlines, welcome a guest, and deep dive into the coolest topics of the week. So like a 45 minute long form of extravaganza just for you. And since it is Monday, lets hop into those headlines. It's official everybody, we have a virtual reality knot on our hands after a man spent 48 straight hours in VR. The Game Science Center in Berlin Germany calls themselves quote, an independent museum for new interactive tech and playful projects, unquote. This past weekend the center launched its Disconnected installation where performance artist Torsan S Wedeman Aim to spend 48 hours straight inside various virtual scenarios without sleeping. The whole thing was live streamed on YouTube and Vidaman made it through the entire stopping or needing medical attention, which is kind of a miracle. It might seem a little weird, but it's actually kind of important for science and us as a society to know what the long term effects of using virtual reality are without stopping. Yeah. So question to you. How long would you use VR without stopping? A lot less than two days. Anything that didn't say, didn't require medical attention as the bar, I think is when I would stop at. Fair enough. Yeah. Okay, what do you got? We got a story about drinking, and nobody likes to drink alone, but that's why we invented robots, friendly drinking buddy robots. Just over four years ago, South Korean inventor Eunchan Park spent Christmas Day drinking all by himself, and he decided he needed a robotic companion to get him through those solitary binges. Enter robot drinking, the robot that can toast alongside you, down shots, and even develop rosy cheeks after one too many. The booze ends up in a jar under the robot for easy recycling or drinking yourself. Which, I guess is still drinking alone, but the robot's there. It doesn't look like you're going to be able to buy Robot Drinkie any time soon, but there is a chance that he will release the build to the public for free so you can actually build him yourself. It sounds like I'm gonna build a lot of robot drinkies for Christmas this year. Robots drinkies for everybody. Yay! Best name for anything. I know. Just, robot drinky. Who doesn't want one? Who doesn't want a robot drinky? If you guys wanna talk about our topics during the week, you can use the hashtag #HEYTD Over on Twitter, please feel free to hit us with your best responses to each of the stories. Yeah, if you give us really awesome ones we will use them on the show.>> Yeah, on Thursday's long show, it'll be great. So now we've done that, we have to take a look at amazing phone photography. [MUSIC] Our phone photographer for the day is Nabil who sent in this lovely picture that he sent in with his Galaxy S 6 Edge. Nabil writes, hello, TD. I love the show. I took this photo using my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge right outside my work in midtown Manhattan. It really sums up the New York energy this time of year, and [INAUDIBLE] Joy. That's a really good picture. Yeah. It really does sum up the energy in midtown. There's nothing like New York with snow everywhere. It's beautiful. That's very true. Winter in New York is really cold, but also really fun. Mm-hm. But we love your picture. Thank you so much for sending it, and if you are out there and you've got an amazing little bit of phonetography that you want to send to us. You can. Send it to tomorrow@cnet.com. We've got all the info right here. Give us permission to use it on the show. Tell us what devices you took it with and also tell us how to pronounce your name. Yeah, that would help. Yeah, cuz we are bad readers. Yes. But that's it for the show today, we are all done. You can find us all over the internet. We'd also like to thank Whitaker Trebella for the remix of our theme song. It's so rad. Super duper cool. Super duper 8 bit. We'll see you back here tomorrow. Stick with us all week. And then there's fun stuff happens Thursday as well. Yeah, so until then, be good humans. We'll see you guys next time. Bye. [MUSIC]
