I'm Tom Merritt, editor from CNET.com with a quick tip on how to speed up Windows Vista boot time. Start in the button formerly known as start. In the search box at the bottom type NS config and press enter. If Vista asks for permission press continue. You'll see the system configuration box. Click the start up tag. Now you've got a list of programs that start up whenever you boot up. Uncheck any you don't want to start. Now press okay. Windows will ask you if you want to restart now. You can do either one and your changes will take effect on the next boot. So some programs are easy to recognize but how do you know if OOBE dash FLDR dot dll should run on start up? Here's what you do. When you're in that start up tab you can expand the command column to reveal the filename of the program in question. Search for that file name on a search engine like Google and you'll get plenty of sites that will tell you what that program does. That's it for this quick tip. I'm Tom Merritt for CNET.com.
