Pantech Laser (AT&T)
I'm Nicole Lee, senior associate editor with CNET.com and this is the first look at the Pantech Laser from AT&T.
Pantech claims that Laser is the world's thinnest sliding messaging phone and as you can see here, it is less than 0.4 inch thick, so this is very thin as you can see here.
On the front is a very stunning and lovely 3.1-inch AMOLED display.
On the back is a 3.0 mega pixel camera lens.
The touch screen on the Laser is a resistive touch screen; that means it requires a little bit more pressure to get the screen to register.
It comes with 3 different home screens; one with the main welcome screen, another is for your favorite applications, and another is for your favorite contacts.
At the bottom row of each home screen are short cuts to the phone dialer, the contacts list, the messaging inbox as well as the main menu.
The main menu on here is quite extensive.
There are up to 3 pages of applications.
Turn the phone sideways and slide phone up and you get a full four-row QWERTY keyboard.
As you might expect in such a slim phone, the keyboard is little bit flat, but it's still quite easy to text and type because of raised keys.
When you slide the phone open, you get a dedicated landscape only home screen, which features text messaging appropriate shortcuts.
Other features of the phone include GPS with AT&T navigation, 3G support, quad-band GSM as well as a music player with AT&T music.
The Pantech Laser also has access to social networking app like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace.
The Pantech Laser is available for 99 dollars 99 cents with a new 2-year service agreement with AT&T.
I'm Nicole Lee.
This has been the first look at the Pantech Laser.
