HP ProBook 5330m
Hi, I'm Scott Stein, senior editor at cnet.com and what you're looking at here is the HP Provoke 5330m.
Now, this is a business laptop that wants you to think that it's a consumer laptop.
What do you think it looks like?
Well, for most people, it still looks like a business laptop.
Sorry HP, but that's true.
It just has a very stern, sturdy look of metals, sort of no nonsense appearance.
Nevertheless, they really did try to up the style factor ** something that's a little cooler.
I respect them for that decision, but even though it still looks like a pretty button damn business laptop, it does have a really nice brass metal design that kind of feels little throw bag, little square it off, kind of feels like maybe like a 90s boom box or maybe like an old titanium power book, but the feel kind of gross on you after a while has an industrial design and it's rock solid sturdy, but you still have this crossover type laptops that could be appealing enough for people who are not in business that may decide that they like this design, but really you are kind of buying into the business technology
and paying into it a little bit, although the price on the HP Provoke 5330m is not bad.
It starts at 799 for this model, which is a Core i3 second generation processor, 4 GB of RAM, 500 GB hard drive 7200 rpm, which is speedy.
Aside from that, it also has a matte screen.
So that's nice if you don't like a lot of glare.
The HP Provoke 5330m does have a really nice keyboard that feels good to type on, feels a lot like a MacBook keyboard and blah, blah, blah, blah.
You know about a lot of the other features
on laptops.
Listen, it is a 13-inch laptop that has up-to-date specs and has an HD webcam.
It doesn't have USB 3.0 and that's pretty much all you need to know.
However, it does have one tiny addition that HP wants to you to know about and that's Beats Audio.
Now Beats Audio is branded down there.
It's branded up here and you see them in a lot of HP laptops.
Dr. Dre's Beats headphones.
What does it mean in a business laptop?
Well, does this crank out great room filling sound.
No, it does not.
Not with a built in speakers.
Beats audio, they claimed a circuitry and software and what amounts through here is the speakers are under-whelming.
They are not going to surprise to you.
However, when we did listen with headphones, yes, the music sounded pretty good and amp up and had some nice base to it.
All in all, it's a solid laptop with an under whelming battery life and hey, if you like something thin and industrial and wanna rock the Beats brand, go with it.
I'm Scott Stein and this is a look at the HP Provoke 5330m.
