Hot Band is betting on exactly that.
Launching on Kickstarter, Hot Band is a strap, and it offers detachable [UNKNOWN].
A smart fob that gets notifications on a small screen and an audio fob that adds a Bluetooth speakerphone to your wrist that detaches and can become an earbud.
Kinda weird but it works when I tried it.
You hold your hand up and use a pullout speaker with your cupped hand to make calls.
It pairs to your phone.
Hot band's designed to work with classic watches or even the Apple Watch or Pebble watches, depending on the size of your band.
You have to pick smart or audio fobs and swap out on the band, which is one of the weird things about hot band.
The design right now is not pretty at all, but smart straps could eventually be a bigger idea than smart watches.
