A cheap activity tracker you will actually want to wear
[MUSIC]
What could you buy for 12 bucks?
In New York City, that's a cup of soup and a small salad for lunch.
But what if I told you that price could get you a fitness tracker?
Hi, I'm Dan Graziano.
I'm here with the Pivital Tracker 1. This is a $12 fitness tracker and it's probably not what you expected.
While you won't find some advanced features like GPS, or a heart rate monitor, this little device can track the basics, like your steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, and your sleep at night.
There's a silent alarm that will wake you up with a gentle vibration in the morning, and you can enable alerts to remind you to move if you've been inactive for an extended period of time.
It even has some features that some of the bigger name bands don't have, like hydration tracking, but you're probably wondering, what's the catch.
Pivotal living has taken a unique approach to the crowded wearable market and is offering its activity tracker as part of a yearly subscription plan.
The Pivotal tracker one can be had for $12, which will get you the band and access to the company's android and iOS app.
If you like what you see, pay another $12 the following year for another year of access to the mobile app.
And if you want you'll get another band.
Speaking of the mobile app, it's one of the nicer ones out there.
It's colorful, user friendly and offers detailed information about all of your activities.
You can set daily goals or even day specific ones.
And you can also join teams with friends or other users that will help motivate you to walk that extra mile.
I like the pivotal tracker but there are some flaws.
Distance tracking wasn't all that accurate.
And it isn't waterproof, so you can't wear it while swimming or in the shower.
You also have to manually enter sleep mode each night by quickly double tapping the button.
And I did notice some scratches on the screen after only a few days of wearing it.
battery life on the other hand is pretty good.
You can expect to get around five to seven days and a full charge only takes sixty minutes.
I would usually charge it when I took it off to take a shower.
The Pivotal Tracker One is a good basic tracker for beginners and those who of you on the fence about spending a lot of money for a device you may not need.
For 12 bucks, they have little risk and a lot of reward.
