5G phone speeds will give you whiplash
5G phones are set to change the way that we use our devices.
There are several in the hopper like the Galaxy S10 5G, foldable wallwave made X, and the LG V50.
5G networks aren't ready today but they will be soon and this first wave of phones will be ready.
After that it's just a matter of time until 5G phones become the norm.
Here is what you have to look forward to with 5G.
5G stands for the fifth generation of network data technology and that means speeds are going to go off the charts.
Downloads and uploads anywhere from ten to 100 times faster than the phone in your pocket today.
That means downloading entire seasons of TV shows in seconds and mere instant uploads.
Ten to a 100 times are current data speed is a huge range, that's because there a lot of technical details that will determine what speeds your phone can actually pull down.
But even two times faster than todays connection is still fantastic start.
In addition to speed, 5G promised to seriously.
Or lag time when connecting to the network.
We're talking about under ten milliseconds in stays tests, which is basically instantly.
Because download and upload speeds will be so fast, there's a lot you'll be able to do on a 5G phone that would just take too long to do today.
For example, you'll be able to stream video and take conference calls in real-time with high clarity and smoothness.
Or imagine watching a ballgame and being able to zoom in the field and even rotate the player on the screen.
What if you could stream AR games and games with extremely realistic graphics?
That is the promise of 5G.
We're on our way to 5G phones in every pocket, but it will still take years before everyone can enjoy all these scenarios.
The first 5G Phones you'll be able to buy will be more expensive, and so will service with your carrier.
Network roll out will be enthodical which means it will take time, and different carriers use different types of 5G technology for now.
We have some great explainers on millimeter wave and subsics if you want to dive a little deeper.
The key thing to know is that 5G is happening and with it expect significantly greater speeds and new experiences for your phone.
