A $35,000 Tesla is finally here.
Tesla opened orders for its elusive base version of the model three electric vehicle.
Almost three years after pre-orders for the car originally began.
Compared to other model three options, this entry level version brings down into price with a standard cloth interior, manual seat, and steering adjustments What Tesla calls basic audio and other changes.
If you want a few upgrades, Tesla does have one available.
A configuration site offers a partial premium interior for the base model.
You'll still have to [UNKNOWN] of $3,000 for enhanced auto pilot and another five grand for full self driving capability.
Which [UNKNOWN] driving isn't quite a reality yet but the company has said in the past it would support any vehicle that paid in advance for the upgrade.
The base model three gets 220 miles of range and goes from zero to 60 in 5.3 seconds.
It's also still eligible for some of the federal tax incentives for electric vehicle purchases in the United States.
But not quite the full $7500 tax credit Which expired for Tesla late last year.
The company also announced in a conference call it would be moving to online only sales, and that it's dropping prices 6% across the board.
If you're nervous about buying a car without test driving it first, Tesla will allow customers to try out their cars for seven days, or less than 1,000 miles, with a full refund if you aren't happy.
