2018 Infiniti QX60: A competent and comfy crossover

[MUSIC] The QX60 has been a hot ticket for Infinity for quite some time now, and it's pretty easy to see why. It's one of the sleekest looking three row crossovers out there today, and it offers a super comfortable ride with plenty of features. [MUSIC] Infinity QX6 remains pretty much the same as it did last year save for the addition of a rear seat alert which will sound an alarm if you leave something like I don't know maybe your kids. But probably more like your handbag or your computer in the backseat. Under the hood is the same stout 3.5 liter V6 engine, putting out 295 horse power, and 270 pound feet of torque. And that's made it to a continuously variable transmission that puts the power down to the pavement, either through the front wheels or all four. It's actually a pretty good power train combination. There's a surprising amount of acceleration in this guy. I mean, it's not really the quickest in the segment. To 60 miles an hour, that crown belongs to the Accura MDX. But it's got enough grunt to satisfy most people. I'm not really a fan of continuously variable transmissions, but I've got to say, Infiniti is really good at the whole simulated gear change technology thing. Really does feel like you're driving more of a regular automatic. [SOUND] [MUSIC] Now if I want just a little bit more aggressive throttle and transmission inputs, I can just turn the dial on my drive mode selector to sport. But don't expect your suspension to change, that's gonna remain the same across all drive modes, snow, escort, eco and normal. And that suspension my friends. It's pretty soft. This guy is tuned for comfort rather than sport. There is a ton of body roll, and when you're cruising down the highway, man, it feels really, really floaty. And the steering is tuned a little strangely. I mean, when you're up to speed that's when it gets really light, but when you're trying to do low Speed maneuvers, like maybe a three point turn. That's when it gets really heavy. It just seems to be the opposite of what I want it to be. But where the Infiniti really excels is in driver's aids, like with predictive forward collision warning that monitors the car in front of the car in front of you. [MUSIC] Now as much as I hate to admit it, most folks just aren't looking to rip their daily driver up the canyons every Sunday, and those that do and need a family hauler, well they're probably going to look at the aforementioned Acura MDX, maybe the Audi Q7 or the much less expensive Mazda CX-9. Instead, the 2018 QX60 is more for people who appreciate comfort and features. There's five USB ports, there's a regular outlet for charging your computer. It's super easy to get into that third row. There's heaters on the second row seats and the heaters on the first row seats are really, really good. Plus it's really comfortable and the ride's really smooth and Hey, there's enough get up and go to satisfy most people. [MUSIC] The 2018 Infinity QX60 starts at about $43,000 for a front wheel drive model, or $45,000 for an all wheel drive model. But those options can add up quickly. Like a $7,300 deluxe technology package with all the drivers aids, or a $2,900 package that includes navigation. All told, my tester here comes in here at $60,670.
