Yahoo appoints new execs
The new executives will oversee specific content and programming areas on Yahoo. Norman Hullinger, former sales executive at Egghead, will become vice president and general manager of Yahoo Auctions. George E. Williams, formerly at Prodigy Services and Ameritrade, was named vice president and general manager of Yahoo Finance. Tiana G. Wimmer, former American Express vice president, will become general manager of direct marketing.
The appointments come amid a hemorrhaging of executives from Yahoo's upper management. In March, Yahoo Chief Executive Tim Koogle announced he would step aside but remain chairman. The company has since been on a search for a new CEO and has approached media executives such as former BMG Entertainment CEO Strauss Zelnick to take the reins. Zelnick, however, did not express interest.
Such other executives as Yahoo sales head Anil Singh, the company's Asian operations chief, Savio Chow, and European head Fabiola Arredondo have left the company. Late last week, the general manager of the company's Singapore operations also left, according to published reports.
In the meantime, the company is looking for new candidates who have lots of experience to re-tweak its management team.
"As we have frequently discussed, we are committed to adding seasoned executives from diverse industries to our management team to complement the existing leadership at Yahoo," Jeff Mallett, president of Yahoo, said in a statement.
