CNET's newest series, Expert vs. AI, pits our experts against the latest AI chatbots to see how their answers line up on big questions. With AI drawing its information from so many different sources, an expert perspective can help discern hallucination from insight and zero in on blind spots.

In the pilot episode, car-tech expert Brian Cooley goes up against Google's Gemini AI chatbot on the question of whether now's the right time to buy an electric car. We begin each episode with complete answers from both Cooley and Gemini, then move on to quick 1-5 word answers to related questions in the lightning round, and finally we turn the tables and give Gemini a chance to ask the questions.

Stay tuned for more episodes of Expert vs. AI, and let us know if there are any big questions you'd like to see featured in this series.
