Palm on call in health care field

  • Post a comment
Palm will work with health care consulting firm McKesson to provide handheld devices to medical professionals.

McKesson says its Horizon MobileCare offering helps health care organizations integrate handheld devices into their information technology setups.

Palm and McKesson plan to jointly market and promote their products through a series of ad campaigns. They will also work together to optimize McKesson's applications on Palm handheld devices. McKesson is currently a beta test site for Palm and is evaluating a series of products being considered for future release.

Financial terms of the deal were not released.

The two companies have already signed up one health care organization, the Humility of Mary Health Partners in Youngstown, Ohio. During the next few months, more than 110 doctors will begin using Palm devices to take advantage of the McKesson products, giving them access to demographic, laboratory, radiology and other data and to transcribed reports.
