Intergraph delivers cheap workstations
The new TD-300 and TD-400 "Personal Workstations" offer 3D graphics capabilities equal to or below the prices of PCs configured as 3D workstations, the company said.
The new models can use either one or two Pentium Pros--Intel's newest high-end processor--running at 150, 180, or 200 MHz. Intergraph says the TD models surpass traditional RISC-processor-based workstations in power because of a unique design that takes full advantage of the fast Pentium Pros.
The TD is designed to perform fast shading and rendering of objects and rotating wireframes, making the workstations ideal for basic CAD, desktop publishing and prepress graphics, animation authoring, and video game creation, the company said.
The systems also feature an integrated G95 graphics accelerator chip, eliminating the need for expensive add-on cards, the company said.
The TD-300 and TD-400 Personal Workstations are available immediately, with prices starting at $5,495.
