Available now, DVD Studio Pro 1.5 sells for $999, and registered users can upgrade for $199.
In addition to running more smoothly in Apple's latest operating system, the new version of DVD Studio is more tightly integrated with Apple's Final Cut Pro video editing program, allowing video professionals to set chapter markers in Final Cut Pro that carry over into DVD Studio.
The new version of DVD Studio also ships bundled with Corel's PhotoPaint and Peak DV, an audio editing program from Bias.
Apple introduced DVD Studio Pro in January 2001 when the company started selling the first Power Macs equipped with the so-called SuperDrive capable of burning DVDs that can be played back on a standard DVD player. Last July, Apple acquired Spruce Technologies, a maker of DVD authoring software for Windows-based computers.
Apple also announced Cinema Tools for Final Cut Pro, a $999 program that makes it easier for filmmakers who shoot in 16mm or 35mm film to edit their work digitally using Final Cut.
The announcements come ahead of the National Association of Broadcasters conference, which starts this weekend in Las Vegas.
