Facebook denies Anonymous 'claims' of takedown
A Twitter feed from an Anonymous account claims it caused Facebook problems, with some intermittent outage. Facebook says it was nothing of the sort.
This evening, Facebook experienced some problems.
Almost immediately, an Anonymous Twitter account, @YourAnonNews, declared: "cough cough, uh, looks like http://facebook.com is having a slight accessibility problem. #Anonymous."

Panic ensued. Well, sort of. Some speculated whether this was the beginning of an alleged promised assault on Facebook, supposedly scheduled for Saturday.
It seems true that Facebook was experiencing some problems. There was intermittent outage earlier this evening.
So I immediately contacted the company to see whether it had its cannons at the ready, whether its fortress had been breached or whether even its cell phones had been rendered useless.
A Facebook spokesman told me: "We pushed out code too aggressively some time between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Everything is fine now."
Almost simultaneously, the same Anonymous Twitter feed offered: "Facebook down? http://goo.gl/lZo9n -- Bwahaha, trolled! #Anonymous ^_^"
And so everyone lived to fight, smile, and update another day. The Facebook spokesman did repeat, though, that the company was ready and that its fortress was, indeed, up to code.
