Nike plans to hold an event to discuss the future of NikeFuel.
The athletic apparel company sent out invitations to to its "NikeFuel Forum" event in New York, which will be held on October 15.
The invitation is light on details, but Nike promises a discussion of the future of the digital world experience and physical activity.
It's unclear whether the event will feature a new FuelBand, the fitness-monitoring device that Nike has been pushing as part of its FuelBand and Nike+ initiative.
The FuelBand has proven to be a popular device with athletes and users who want to monitor their physical activity. Unveiled in January of last year, the FuelBand could be up for a product refresh. The only cosmetic update it has received has been the option for different colors.
The fitness-tracking segment has heated up with strong competition from the likes of FitBit, which has a number of different products. Samsung's smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, can serve as a fitness tracker as well.
Even Apple is at it, having introduced its M7 chip in the new iPhone 5S, which essentially makes it an activity tracker too. Nike has been a close ally of Apple's, so the forum could provide some insight into how Nike views its future with the iPhone.
