Just six months after launching its #Music app, Twitter is already said to be singing the blues over the music-discovery app.
The social network is "strongly" considering ending support for the music-discovery app, AllThingsD reports, citing multiple anonymous sources described as familiar with the matter. The app, which launched in April, helps Twitter users discover new music through artists and songs that are trending on Twitter.

Such a move would be a dramatic change of course for Twitter, which is prepping for an initial public offering widely expected next month. In recent months, the company has mounted an aggressive campaign to strengthen its ties to the entertainment industry, seen as a possible avenue for generating big ad revenue for Twitter.
The music app is just one component of Twitter's goal of transforming itself from a microblogging platform into a media platform where advertisers can target users through the specific kinds of content they're interested in. By operating various channels of media, Twitter could pose a serious challenge to Facebook and its dominance over how the public shares media.
In addition to its music initiative, Twitter has been focused on TV. This summer, Twitter started letting TV advertisers target ads to its users, and in August, it acquired Trendrr, a social media analytics company that focuses on television and serves big brands like ABC, MTV, Telemundo, and Univision.
