Asus may be cooking up another low-cost Android tablet
New benchmarks hint at a budget-minded Android 4.1 tablet with a 1GHz processor and a 1,024x600-pixel display.

A few specs about the potential tablet recently popped up on benchmark site GLBenchmark.
The limited details revealed so far point to a Jelly Bean flavored tablet with a 1GHz processor, a Mali 400 graphics chip, and a screen resolution of 1,024x552 pixels (likely 1,024x600), as described by blog site Cult of Android.
Codenamed the Asus ME172V, the new tablet doesn't match the specs of the Nexus 7, which sports a 1,280x800-pixel resolution and a maximum processor speed 1.3GHz. The Nexus 7 is powered by a quad-core chip. The benchmark details don't reveal how many processors would be outfitted in this new Asus tablet.
In September, DigiTimes speculated that Asus and Google were developing a $99 Nexus tablet.
But the following month, the tech news site backtracked on those claims after sources told it that Google would instead team up with Quanta Computer to make a new budget-friendly Nexus tablet.
CNET contacted Asus for comment and will update the story if we receive any information.
