The quirky e-commerce site Fab is giving its customers free shipping just as the holidays approach.
A fast-growing startup -- the 17-month-old company counted its 9 millionth user earlier this month -- Fab launched the new promotion today. The company will pay for shipping for orders that total $75 or more, but only on certain products.
The free shipping counts toward 98 percent of all of Fab's products, all of which are identified by a truck icon, Fab CEO Jason Goldberg wrote in a note to users.
After transforming from a gay social network into flash sales retail site in June 2011, the company's continued to pivot with its growth. Fab removed its signup requirement and and bet on a splashy Facebook logout ad in September.
And now, the site is betting on global free shipping.
The promotion, which Goldberg said is a permanent deal, comes on the heels of the company's launch of one- to three-day shipping for 70 percent of its products.
It's all a part of Goldeberg's plans for world domination. The company's been trying to expand its overseas, and it needs free, and fast, shipping to make it competitive.
