A number of MacFixIt readers, and posters to Apple's Discussion boards, are noting a problem with the iTunes Music Store after updating to iTunes 4.7.

MacFixIt reader Jon Breitenbucher describes the problem in detail "For about a week now (right after the update to 4.7 and the dropping of older versions of iTunes) my iTunes Music Store shopping cart has not been working."

"I can browse the iTunes Music Store and add items to my cart, but when I try to click my cart I get the following error message. "We could not complete your Music Store request. The Music Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

"Before the iTunes update and the changes made to the store to drop support for old versions, the shopping cart worked from all 5 of my authorized computers which are on three different networks. One of my machines is running 10.3.5 with no updates since September and iTunes 4.6, i. e, it has not changed with the recent iTunes and iTMS updates and the shopping cart stopped working. This is a strong indication that it is not something on the user end which the user can fix. It is something on Apple's end of which Apple needs to take ownership. The cart also does not work from my 10.3.6 machine (all updates) with iTunes 4.7, my XP machine with iTunes 4.6, my 10.3.6 machine (all updates) with iTunes 4.6, or my 10.3.4 machine with iTunes 4.6."

Users are receiving the following response from iTunes Music Store support regarding the issue:

"Thank you for contacting the iTunes Music Store. The iTunes Music Store team answers non-technical questions about billing, customer accounts, downloading music, and iTunes Music Store content.

"You may find a resolution in one of the following AppleCare Knowledge Base articles.

"iTunes: Overview of Music Store Errors"

"iTunes for Windows: Overview of Music Store Errors"

"[...] If you require assistance beyond what is available online, please call Apple technical support at 800-APL-CARE (800-275-2273). Help is available seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. central time. The representative will determine whether a per-incident fee will be associated with the call."

Unfortunately, users have also met resistance with AppleCare, whose representatives often state that they do not cover iTunes Music Store issues.
