Xbox Live ad hints at November relaunch

I smell a hint.
While nothing has been confirmed by Microsoft, a suspicious Xbox Live in-dash ad definitely points to November for the long-awaited dashboard relaunch. CNET sister site GameSpot reports that an ad for Rock Band 2 blatantly claims to "Check out the New Xbox Experience coming in November!"
We first learned details about the brand new Xbox Live dashboard at this summer's E3 2008 press conference, where it was also announced that the new interface would support personal avatars--think Nintendo Mii characters--and Netflix streaming capabilities. Other new features offered by the update will include the ability to completely install a game onto the system's hard drive, which will drastically reduce the strain on the console's DVD drive and potentially decrease loading times.
The Xbox 360 recently saw a price drop, making the entry-level system the lowest priced next-generation console on the market. We hope to have more information on the highly anticipated dashboard update when Microsoft makes an official announcement.

I sure wish this console DIDN'T have this free three year warranty.
what did they give a 3 yr warranty on? and where is it documented?
i would like to know being a 360 user.
"I sure wish this console DIDN'T have this free three year warranty." - you probably SHOULD. The fact that MS extended the warranty out to three years shows personal accountability, and that's nice and all. However, instead of praising them for extending the warranty out and replacing the machine two or three times for people who have gotten repeated RRODs (my friend has had 3 - the second one happened within one week of getting it returned - and no, it wasn't his fault), perhaps you should put a little more effort into questioning WHY they had to extend the warranty in the first place.
I hope your experiences get better. I do believe MS is really concentrating on customer experience unlike anytime in their history and this action from a badly delivered console goes to show that.
when did they announce a 3 yr warranty, and what does it cover? just the RROD? or what?

live is down Monday for a preliminary upgrade for the fall update. it will happen in november as they say.
themes and gamerpics will still be there, but they wont tell us how they will be used.....all of us that bought them in the past will be able to use them so its not a useless purchase, but i think the update will make them useless in a sense

I have this video really helped, thanks to them! )
oh and about the original nintendo- i still have mine plus about 15 games in my closet. i could pull it out right now and the thing would fire right up, and i've had it for over 20 years. i know the technologies are way different but you would think that with all of the advancements in gaming technology that they would also be able to make advancements in the components used to make these newer systems.

- i've had 2 xb's myself , one a so called " bad batch " which lasted literally 2 months before rrod. Sent it back to ms also got a refurb, surprise surprise rrod. And yes it was well ventilated heard too many horror stories to not take chances. microsoft are making a killing of us guys and only now do they offer a 3 year warrenty ( thanks guys ) . I've now purchased a pro model with hdmi and is only 3 months old, had no problems whatsoever. These newer models are completely redesigned inside so hopefully the dreaded rrod is now a thing of the past. Buy one with hdmi. You can't go wrong, just make sure its well ventilated.
