Short Take: Cisco, Covad expand DSL relationship

Cisco Systems and Covad Communications, a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC), have signed a digital subscriber line (DSL) development deal. As part of the agreement, Covad will use Cisco's DSL equipment in telecommuting and small and medium-sized business solutions in several large markets, expanding a relationship dating back to December 1997. The companies also will work jointly on engineering efforts to promote the high-speed data-over-copper technology.
