Nintendo has issued a patch for two issues that occur in Pokémon X and Y: the inability to resume play after saving in areas of Lumiose City and crashing when trying to use the Global Trade System.

There are two ways to get the patch: by opening your 3DS' camera and scanning the appropriate QR code (below) or by finding it in the Nintendo eShop.

To scan the QR code, make sure your 3DS is connected to the internet and then go to the home screen and hold the L or R shoulder button to launch the camera. Tap on the QR code icon on the lower left of the screen and centre the QR code in the box. This will take you to the eShop to begin your download. Each game has a different patch, so make sure you scan the correct QR code.

To find the patch in the eShop, make sure your 3DS is connected to the internet and then boot up the eShop. If you have Pokémon X or Y on your home screen, a list of available software downloads for the game will appear when you launch the eShop app.

Users who have been affected by the Lumiose bug will be able to continue playing their saved game after patching, Nintendo has said. The company apologises for the inconvenience and strongly recommends all players download the patch before continuing their games.
