Vodafone Freebees pay as you go tariffs offer free Web access

Vodafone has launched Freebees, a selection of pay as you go tariffs that reward you with free Internet access, texts or call time when you top up your phone.

There are three Freebee tariffs. 'Get Text and Web' will give you 300 texts and 500MB of Web access for free every time you top your phone up with £10 of credit. You'll get 500 texts and 500MB with a £15 top-up, and 3,000 texts and 500MB with a £30 top-up.

You'll have to make sure you use that 500MB of Web access before the month is up, though -- it won't carry over to the next one. If you go over the 500MB limit, you'll be charged up to £1 a day to browse the Web, depending on how much data you use.

The 'Get International' tariff will give you 60 free international minutes with a £10 top-up, 100 minutes with a £15 top-up, and 240 minutes with a £30 top-up. The 'Free Weekends' tariff will reward you with free calls and texts at the weekend if you spend £5 of credit during the week, and just free texts if you spend £2.50 during the week.

There are also two other pay as you go deals that you can add to your chosen Freebee tariff. 'Vodafone Family' will let you make free calls to three other Vodafone customers as long as one of you is paying an extra £5 a month. 'Bonus Bank' will siphon off 10 per cent of each top-up you make, and, after three months, let you spend the accrued funds on further top-ups, or put it towards a new handset. 

Vodafone's Get Text and Web tariff is virtually identical to O2's Text and Web pay-as-you-go tariff. Under Three's pay-as-you-go scheme, you can convert your £10 top-up into 3,000 texts, 100 minutes and 500MB of Internet access. 

When it comes to pay as you go Internet access, Orange and T-Mobile's current deals aren't so good. Orange's 'Dolphin' tariff will give you free Internet access with a £10 top-up, but it's capped at 100MB per month. With T-Mobile, Internet access on a pay-as-you-go deal will simply cost you up to £1 a day.
