Google Maps on Tuesday started showing where your nearest bike-sharing station is, along with real-time information on the number of bikes available, in 24 cities around the world on iOS and Android. The feature, whic has been available in New York for the past year, also tells you if there's an empty space at a station near your destination.

The app gets information from a global feed handled by transit data company Ito World, and shows you bikes from every system. Google reckons there 1,600 bike-share systems and more than 18 million shared bikes rolling around cities globally.
