Kogan dives into PC market with AU$329 Windows laptop
Aussie e-tailer Kogan has launched the Atlas X1510, a low-cost Windows 8.1 laptop with a 15.6-inch display.
While Kogan has had a few Windows tablets in its catalogue, it had never made the jump to more traditional PCs -- until now. Launched today, the Atlas X1510 is a 15.6-inch laptop running Windows 8.1 priced at just AU$329.
In a media statement, Ruslan Kogan stressed that the Atlas wasn't built with "end of life" parts, but had "the highest spec level available at that price point".
The laptop display has a 1,366x768 resolution, while inside you'll find 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive. The chipset is the Intel Pentium N3540 running at 2.16GHz. That CPU is part of Intel Bay Trail-M architecture, designed for low power consumption in entry-level notebooks -- you'll also find it in the HP Pavillion 11 and Toshiba's Satellite L10W.
The Atlas also features four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and VGA out, 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port. It weighs in at 2.1kg and has dimensions of 37.4x25.9x2.4cm.
As part of a partnership with Microsoft, Kogan will offer a AU$15 discount on Office 365 if the product is purchased at same time as the Atlas.
Andy Malakooti, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Windows Consumer at Microsoft Australia, said that the Kogan laptop allowed consumers to "access the best of Windows 8.1 running with powerful specs at a very competitive price."
