In the wake of the government shutdown, the deal merging Capital Cities/ABC and the Walt Disney Company is on hold until Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulators get back to work.

Although the two companies have worked out the details, final approval is still lacking. According to government officials, the closing of the FCC has put the kibosh on sealing the deal.

The Disney/Capital Cities deal isn't the only one being held up by the government shutdown, however. According to FCC officials, the agency has also dropped work on Barry Diller's bid to take over Silver King Communications.
