Leading video game publisher Electronic Arts announced Wednesday that it will produce titles for N-Gage, an upcoming handheld gaming device from mobile phone giant Nokia. EA did not offer information on which titles are involved, but said N-Gage offerings would come both from the company's main division and from its successful EA Sports franchise.

The N-Gage, which Nokia plans to introduce in late October, combines a mobile phone with an MP3 music player and has a high-resolution screen for playing games published in a new format developed by Nokia. The device will compete not only against Nintendo's market-dominating Game Boy Advance but in an increasingly crowded field of high-end handheld gaming machines, including Sony's forthcoming PlayStation Portable (PSP).
