Loyal BlackBerry keyboard addicts may not have long to wait. Reportedly, a leaked memo from Canadian carrier Rogers pins the launch date for BlackBerry's Q10 phone as April 30.

According to wireless industry news blog MobileSyrup, a document apparently from Rogers shows the Q10 is scheduled for a "marketing launch" of April 30. That will no doubt come as good news to those hankering for a BlackBerry 10 OS device sporting a true physical keyboard. With its real QWERTY keyboard and BB10, many loyal BlackBerry customers who have not been seduced by the Z10's touch-screen charms have eagerly awaited the Q10's release.

I myself kicked the physical keyboard habit years ago, when I moved from BlackBerry to Android, and have never looked back. Still, when I briefly got my hands on the Q10 at BlackBerry's BB10 launch event in January I admit I got a bit misty-eyed as my fingers grazed those oh-so-familiar keys.

Add to that iconic design BlackBerry's fresh software with the BlackBerry Hub, which makes it extremely difficult to miss important messages, zippy handling, and a bigger battery than the Z10's, and I understand why this is a hot piece of hardware. Of course we need access to a wider range of popular mobile apps for this platform to really heat up.

Further indicating just how soon the Q10 could arrive, four storefronts including Rogers' and BestBuy's have just announced tthat people can preorder the handset in Canada. Rounding out this list are Telus and Future Shop.
