Alcatel expands its Pixi 3 line

Alcatel has added two tablets for its OneTouch Pixi 3 range of devices. The tablets come in two sizes: 7-inch or 8-inch.

The tablets run Android, with the Wi-Fi, 3G models of the 7-inch as well as the 8-inch version running Android 4.4. The 4G 7-inch version runs Android 5.0.

The tablets are comfortable to hold and feel solid, despite the plastic build.

A cover at the side grants you access to the microSD card and SIM slots.

The rear of the 7-inch features a patterned surface for a better grip, while the larger 8-inch sports a smooth touch finish.

The tablets aren't the slimmest you'll find; all models check in at 9.2mm thick.

All tablets sport a front and rear camera, both 2 megapixels.

The volume and power buttons are located on the right.

The tablets come with a front-facing 2-megapixel camera for selfies.

The tablet uses soft keys, so there are no physical buttons.

The 8-inch model is also 9.2mm thick.

Even the 8-inch model sports only a 2-megapixel camera.

Like the 7-inch version, the 8-inch tablet doesn't deviate much from the design and has power and volume buttons on the right.

Here you'll find the audio jack and Micro-USB port all located within easy reach.

The microSD and SIM card slots are covered by a flap.

The 7-inch Wi-Fi-only model will cost a mere €69 ($77, £50, AU$98), while the 7-inch 3G version is a small step up at €89 ($99, £64, AU$127). Lastly, the 4G model is a tad more costly at €129 ($144, £93, AU$184).

The 8-inch tablet will retail at €129 ($144, £93, AU$184).
