Viking Components firmware upgrade: do not use it?

Viking Components Web site has a firmware upgrade for the Viking 56K Flex PCMCIA modem for PowerBooks. R.T. Barry downloaded the files and attempted the update several times, with no success. He contacted Viking Tech Support. They told him that "the only way to update the modem is to send it in to Viking and that the Web site shouldn't have the Updater online. It does not work!" But for some reason, the Updater is still there. [The Upgrade page now lists two options: Use the Windows upgrade procedure or send your PC Card in for a replacement.]
