Smart Dialing David Nash describes a problem with FAXstf Pro 5.0 Smart Dialing: "I was not able to send faxes in my local area codes using Smart Dialing (in Atlanta, 770 and 404 are both local but one must dial all ten digits on all local calls). The call was treated like a long distance call and FAXstf always used a '1' prefix, even though I had entered 404 and 770 as local area codes. I found that I had to set each local address book entry to 'dial as entered' and turn off Smart Dialing. I called tech support and they confirmed that the program won't recognize 10 digit local dialing."
Update: Jim Hoover notes: "Another problem is if you need a prefix to get an outside line, QuickFax will not dial successfully unless you manually add the prefix. This is a confirmed 'feature' by STF support."

M. Joseph Schaller writes: "Smart dialing doesn't work with international numbers, because it adds a 1 in front of the '011' or whatever. Tech support confirmed this for me, and suggested turning off Smart Dialing, either altogether or when doing international numbers."

Net-Print conflict David Gustavson found that FAXstf 5.0 conflicted with Net-Print 8.0.7 on his PowerBook 3400, running Mac OS 8.1. After installing FAXstf, he kept getting crashes at startup until he disabled Net-Print.
