Troubleshooting Mac OS 8.5

CNET staff
We are beginning to get a steady stream of reports about problems and conflicts with Mac OS 8.5, even though it is not yet out. That's great! Keep those cards and letters coming! However, to be fair to all parties, we will generally refrain from posting these items until 8.5 is officially released. Hopefully, at least some of these problems will be fixed before the release date. However, here are two items that we will mention now:
Clipboard bug "Running MacOS 8.5f7: If you open the Clipboard window in the Finder (containing picture, text or whatever inside) and Control-click on its contents, you'll get a contextual menu with couple of options. If you choose 'Open' or 'Get Info->General Information,' the Finder returns this message: 'The info window for the " " could not be opened, because an error of type -192 occurred.'"

Palm and Consultant We previously reported that the current Palm Pilot software does not appear to work with Mac OS 8.5. However, for those of you that use Chronos' Consultant, they will be releasing their Palm synchronization software next week. It should work with Mac OS 8.5. (Thanks, Dale Sorenson.)

Now Synchronize also works (according to Rault Kehlor).

Once 8.5 is released, we will have full coverage of all troubleshooting issues. Stay tuned!
