Troubleshooting iSync: Error 13 and Data Recycler

Troubleshooting iSync: Error 13 and Data Recycler

CNET staff

We previously noted a problem where attempting to use iSync to synchronize data between devices resulted in the error "System error 13 Permission denied." MacFixIt reader Paul Simmons provided the following information:

I was also experiencing this problem. After reinstalling Jaguar several times, I discovered that Prosoft Engineering's Data Recycler X appears to be the culprit. Installing Data Recycler causes iSync to fail with System Error 13. After deinstalling Data Recycler, iSync works as expected. I have contacted Prosoft about this, receiving a response that the matter was being referred to an engineer.

If you were previously experiencing this Error 13 problem, did you have Data Recycler X installed? Did removing it solve the problem? Drop us a note at late-breakers@macfixit.com.
