Today we have several follow-up items on yesterday's coverage of iPod issues, including a thorough new KB article on unrecognized iPods and another possible fix for inactive FireWire ports.
60950: iPod: Not Recognized in iTunes and/or Finder is a fairly comprehensive troubleshooting document that explains what to do when iPod does not appear in the Finder and/or in iTunes.
Hardware Test CD fixes inactive FireWire ports? Keith Cremer writes: "Apple tech support suggested I try several fixes for recognizing my iPod, including PRAM reset and O-F reset-all. None of them worked. As a last ditch test, we booted from the Hardware Test CD and about halfway through the test, after the memory test, the iPod suddenly switched on and started FireWire mode."
