Following up on our previous coverage, here are more troubleshooting tips for using AvantGo 3.3 : This may or may not seem obvious, but for AvantGo 3.3 to update your content, you must have an active Internet connection when you do a Palm HotSync. Jamie Loeb found that he also had to have his browser open, but other readers did not find this to be so. Massimo Marino had another problem with HoySyncing. He writes: "In my case, the problem was that the MobileLink and other prc files from AvantGo had wrong type and creator hence the HotSync were never installing them. These files were put on the User/Files to Install folder by the installed but appeared as TEXT and DOS for type and creator. Palm Desktop was not able to identify them properly. Setting them as type Gld0 and creator Gld1 let the install process complete and AvantGo installed and working properly." Mark Stern adds: "After installation, I had the problem with not being able to access AvantGo's servers (error page saying that the server did not sync). I run through a proxy server firewall and found that in the AvantGo Connect control panel the proxy server information was incorrect, listing port number 8080 instead of 80. After making the change to 80, I was able to sync without any trouble. Jonathan Poet had no problems at all: "I downloaded the installer yesterday, ran it and everything appears to be working just fine. This was done on a Palm IIIe and a Rev. D iMac running Mac OS 8.6 (talking to AvantGo through IE 4.5 using PPP) via a Keyspan Twin Serial adapter."
