The Tilery and desktop printing crashes

CNET staff
Rick Holzgrafe (author of The Tilery) notes the following about the recent version 4.0 of The Tilery (a desktop launcher utility):
Users have reported, and we have confirmed, that there is a conflict between desktop printers and The Tilery 4.0's "Always Hide Others" feature: if "Always Hide Others" is turned on, background printing is liable to crash. Turning off "Always Hide Others" prevents the crashes and allows printing to proceed normally.

Users have also complained that the implementation of "Always Hide Others" in version 4.0 is too strict. In earlier versions of The Tilery, it could be circumvented in several useful ways. The consensus among users seems to be that they want the old behavior back.

Semicolon Software will soon solve both problems with the release of version 4.0.1, which will restore the old "Always Hide Others" behavior and fix the conflict with desktop printing. 4.0.1 will be released as soon as testing is complete (a matter of days, we hope), and will be available from our Web site.

In the meantime, users are advised to turn off the "Always Hide Others" feature in version 4.0. (It is off by default, so if you haven't deliberately turned it on, you don't have to worry about it.) Also note that the separate "Hide Application" feature found in application tile menus is safe, works correctly, and can still be used.
