QuickTime 7.1.6 (#4): EyeTV update fixes freezing issue

QuickTime 7.1.6 breaks EyeTV for some users, but Elgato has issued a fix.

CNET staff

EyeTV update fixes freezing issue Elgato has released an update for the EyeTV software that resolves severe playback problems experiencing by some users after installing QuickTime 7.1.6.

Unfortunately, the company has confusingly chosen to keep the version label 2.4 for the new release. As such, users should download the 2.4 release again.

A statement reads:

"Live TV would play for only a few seconds, and then freeze.  A Force Quit was often necessary to temporarily resolve this issue. This problem seemed to be isolated to some PowerPC Macs (G4 and G5 processors). Update on May 4th, 2007 The EyeTV 2.4 software download has been updated, to fix this problem."
