PowerBook G4 Double-Layer SuperDrive Special Report: User comments on brighter screen

A number of users have commented on the brighter screen used on the new PowerBooks, reporting more vivid colors and expanded angular visibility.

Some reported less even illumination, however. The new PowerBook screen appears to use a new lighting mechanism that appears to the user as a sphere of illumination that moves around the screen as eyes dart from one area to another.

The new screen lighting techniques may be one of the reasons the PowerBook G4 Double-Layer SuperDrive models have longer battery life than previous models.
