Power Windows and SmoothType updates

CNET staff
Power Windows 2.0.6 is out. It is a control panel that lets you drag entire windows instead of just dotted outlines. Version 2.0.6 fixes problems with applications using the "DragHook" low memory global. It is compatible with Mac OS 9.

SmoothType 2.1.1 is out. It is a control panel that effectively increases the resolution of text on the screen by blurring the edges of bitmap fonts with shades of gray, a technique called "anti-aliasing." This is similar to the font smoothing introduced in Mac OS 8.5, but SmoothType offers more flexibility and uses a more aggressive algorithm. SmoothType works best with the monitor resolution set as high as it will go, but using increased font sizes or magnifications so that text on the screen is the same physical size as before. Version 2.1.1 fixes problems with FWB Hard Disk Toolkit and with system font smoothing when used in conjunction with Kaleidoscope. It is compatible with Mac OS 9.
