CNET staff
RealPlayer glitch resolved Lorne Walton writes: "For the longest time, RealPlayer would not work for me. I always received the message "Requested File could not be found". The RealPlayer website commented that illegal characters in Mac volume names had to be the problem. It wasn't. But after thinking about it for a while, I decided to change the name of my downloads folder from "up/down" to "updown". Now RealPlayer audio works fantastically!" See also this item for another "naming issue" with RealPlayer.
Update: Several readers suggest that this "/" bug (or feature) is a more general issue. The slash in a document name caused "path" problems for BBEdit and for a PDF file imported to an NT system.

Accelerated Reader has already addressed 2/29/00 bug Regarding the item yesterday describing a Feb 29, 2000 bug in Accelerated Reader 3.x, Marc Wolfgram (of Advantage Learning Systems) writes: "Accelerated Reader 3.x has been out of production for more than a year, being superseded by version 4. Recently Advantage Learning Systems began shipping version 5.0. The leap year issue was resolved in 4.0." Yesterday's item did indicate that a fixed version was already out, but it can't hurt to make it clearer.
