Odds & Ends: HP 1200N and Quark/Illustrator files; inDesign followup

HP 1200N and Quark/Illustrator files Garry Nevin writes: "The HP 1200 N laser has a firmware fault in the Jet Direct box (175x) that can prevents Quark Express files (3 or 4) printing if they contain Illustrator files. This occurs on the Mac but it is not know if it also occurs on PCs. HP admits the problem and says that there is a firmware fix (if you send it to them) but it is not guaranteed to work. I have also had considerable problems with iMacs and 1200 lasers with the printers losing connection with the Mac."

InDesign 1.5.2, Mac OS 9.2.1, and Epson printers conflict: a followup Christine Holzmann writes: "I was having the same problem (see previous) with my Epson 780 after upgrading to 9.2.1. After testing with Conflict Catcher I found that the problem exists when the following extensions are enabled together: 'File Sharing Library' and 'Security Storage Module.' I disabled both these extensions and was able to print successfully again."
