Final Cut Pro 2.0: Unexpectedly Quits When Capture Hardware Not Present TIL article #60829 states: "In rare circumstances, Final Cut Pro 2.0 may unexpectedly quit and generate a Type 2 error if the selected analog capture hardware is not present and the sequence settings are set for DV.

NVIDIA card slows redraws? Stephen Holtzman writes of a potential problem with NVIDIA graphics cards: Using a G4 733MHz, screen redraws, especially on QuarkXPress 4.11, were taking between 7-10 seconds. With other programs including Photoshop 6.0, highlighting text was like a snail or a turtle. Admittedly, we are working with very large. But we had not seen this problem with older Macs we had used. After exhausting all possible QuarkXpress issues we realized that this must be related to the NVIDIA Graphic Card. Replacing the NVIDIA card with a RADEON card from another Mac eliminated the symptoms."

Entourage to Netscape email attachment error Jeff Herscovitz writes of a conflict between Netscape and Entourage: "In my experience (seven of every ten times,) if you send an email from Entourage with a JPEG file attached, and it is received by a Netscape user, the JPEG, is not visible in the message, either as a link or inline. A Microsoft tech support rep confirmed it and says it is a Netscape problem. They have also confirmed that this problem occurs with JPEG files sent as attachments from both Outlook Express and Entourage. Netscape simply said: "The support for HTML coding is, unfortunately, out of the support scope of Netscape Technical Support." Beyond that, they blame Microsoft for the specific problem.

Update: Donald Smith replies: "Not only do many types of attachments show up as gibberish, but Entourage is not able to handle any animated files like gifs while Netscape can. I think that Netscape Mail handles HTML much better than Entourage. The problem is with Entourage I believe."

Suitcase "disables" keyboard? David Shauger found that the keys on the keyboard did not work after waking his PowerBook G4 from sleep. The cause appeared to be Suitcase. Extensis told him that they "are working on a fix for the issue." We now have several confirmations of this.

Update: The problem is due to MenuFonts (included with Suitcase). Disable this and you should be okay.
